Welcome to the Brisbane Twittersphere!

BTUB is a loose association of Twitter users located in Brisbane, Australia.

Similar groups exist in other Australian cities, using the *TUB format, such as STUB (Sydney) and MTUB (Melbourne).

Mostly, a BTUB occurs when several Twitter users publicly get together in Brisbane for any ol’ purpose. It’s always social and it usually includes drinking.

Frequently BTUBs have occurred at The Ship Inn on Friday nights in South Brisbane.

A few BTUB regulars came together in late January and early February 2009 to put together Brisbane Twestival, a global charity fundraiser event for Twitter users, which brought together 200 people raising about $5000.

Who goes to BTUB?
As it’s more of a loose association, anyone can be a “member” of BTUB. Some people can’t get enough of it, though, so here’s a list of some of the regulars:

If you’re ever lost or unsure, these are the peeps to get in touch with.

What does BTUB stand for?
It doesn’t really stand for anything anymore but it was originally an abbreviation for Brisbane Twitter Underground Brigade. It’s not exactly underground anymore and there are rarely brigade-like endeavours. ;)
